All four grade levels are working on various projects right now and we are just about half way done! Here are some images of the progress that we have made so far.
The eighth graders are working on a face sculpture that is made from styrofoam. They are really coming together and beginning to show some personality. The students were asked to show exaggeration or surrealism in their facial compositions. After they get everything cut out and glued down, they will paint them in the same way that they used color in their original drawings.
The seventh graders are creating a rose window. This unit incorporates math into the beginning drawing to create our blueprint. They students have traced and reflected their original design, with a total of 12 pie pieces. Now, we are in the coloring phase and will begin to see the images come to life!
The fifth and sixth grade students are composing a drawing that is based solely on warm and cool colors. They were asked to pick a subject matter that was either a piece of fruit/food or an animal. Once that was completed there were to enlarge their image onto the graph paper. From there, the students chose if they were going to complete the subject matter in warm or cool colors and then they background would be done in the opposite color. The sixth graders are expected to use the tertiary colors in addition to the primary and secondary colors.
